Istanbulites flocked to Sabiha Gokcen Airport to meet Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem Imamoglu, who was attacked with a stone during a rally in Erzurum. Thousands of citizens are heading to the airport with Turkish flags and Nation Alliance Presidential Candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu’s “Sana Söz” pennants in their hands. Those who cannot reach by vehicles are trying to go to the area on foot.
CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Canan Kaftancioglu, in a call from his social media account, stated that Istanbulites were waiting for Sabiha Gokcen Airport to meet IMM President Ekrem Imamoglu, who was attacked with a stone in Erzurum.
In a statement made on Kaftancioglu’s Twitter account, he had expressed the following:
“Dear Istanbulites, we are waiting for you at Sabiha Gökçen Airport from 20.15. To meet Ekrem Imamoglu and to show a fraternal stance against what has been done… We are coming for brotherhood, for a hug. With common sense, we will frustrate provocations.”
